My Son Sanctuary (Thánh địa Mỹ Sơn) used to be in Quang Nam province and has been part of Da Nang city since July 2025. The tourist bus route to the ruins was suspended in September 2026, and a plan for a new ticket price announced in January 2026 has not taken effect. So what does a visit cost, when are the dance shows, and how do you get there from Hoi An or Da Nang?

How to plan a visit to My Son Sanctuary
Book a car, taxi or tour from Hoi An or Da Nang before anything else, because the tourist bus to the site is suspended. My Son is open every day from 6:00 am (aim to arrive before 5:00 pm), and a foreign visitor's ticket costs 150,000 VND (about US$6), covering the electric shuttle, the site museum and the Cham dance shows.
The ruins are in My Son village, Thu Bon commune, in Da Nang city. Allow up to an hour each way from Hoi An and up to 1 hour 30 minutes from central Da Nang, the travel times given by Danang Fantasticity, the city's official tourism portal. Distances differ by source: the portal says about 35 km (22 miles) from Hoi An and 45–50 km (about 28–31 miles) from central Da Nang, while the site's management board, the office that runs My Son, says 45 km (about 28 miles) and 68 km (about 42 miles).
Allow two to four hours at the site: the board said in September 2025 that a visit lasts more than two hours, and the tourism portal suggests at least three to four hours to see the main tower groups, the museum and a show.
Tickets and opening hours
Buy your ticket at the gate or on the board's ticket website, mysonticketonline.vn, which lists the prices below. The entrance ticket covers the site museum, the electric shuttle and the Cham dance shows, according to the board's visitor guide and the tourism portal.
| Ticket | Price |
|---|---|
| Foreign visitors | 150,000 VND (about US$6) |
| Vietnamese visitors | 100,000 VND (about US$4) |
| Children aged 5 to 15 (shuttle ticket) | 30,000 VND (about US$1) |
| Children under 5 | Free |
The ticket price includes the city's sightseeing fee of 40,000 VND (about US$1.5) per visit, which is the same for every visitor and stayed at that level under a city resolution that took effect on August 10, 2026; the rest pays for services such as the electric shuttle and the shows. The price may change. In January 2026, the board announced a plan for a single ticket of 250,000 VND (about US$9.5) for all visitors, subject to approval by the city council, but on October 2, 2026 its price list still showed the prices above. The online booking page showed 148,000 VND (about US$5.5) for foreign visitors and had no children's ticket; the ticket website says the price shown at booking is the one that applies. Tickets bought online cannot be refunded or transferred.
The ticket website gives 6:00 am to 6:00 pm for visits and until 5:30 pm for ticket sales. The board's other pages and the tourism portal give 5:00 pm, either as the closing time or as the end of ticket sales, so arrive well before 5:00 pm. The museum is open from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm.
You can hire a guide at the site. One guide ticket costs 100,000 VND (about US$4) and covers a group of one to five people; groups of 6 to 15 need two tickets and groups of 16 to 30 need three. The standard guided route takes about 60 minutes.
Cham dance shows and other performances
With seven shows a day, you can plan your walk around one of them. The performance hall has shows at 9:45, 10:30 and 11:15 am and at 2:00 and 4:00 pm, and there are two more at the foot of Group G at 9:00 am and 2:45 pm. French researchers sorted the ruins into groups named by letter (A, B, C and so on), and the site's schedules still use these names.
On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, Cham folk singers perform on the Group H slope at 9:00 am and 2:45 pm. On the 15th of each month, the Echoes of My Son program (Âm vang Mỹ Sơn) runs at groups B, C and D, also at 9:00 am and 2:45 pm. The board's ticket website and its main website both give the 15th of the regular calendar month, while one page on the tourism portal says the 15th of the lunar month. Go by the board's date, and if this show matters to you, confirm with the board on +84 963 412 068.
The shows at Group G and the folk singing on the Group H slope are paused in bad weather.
Getting there from Hoi An and Da Nang
Arrange a car, taxi or tour, because the bus is suspended. Route 01DL, the tourist bus from Hoi An via My Son to Dong Giang, was suspended for six months from September 15, 2026, according to a notice from the Da Nang Smart Traffic Operations Center. That means no bus until mid-March 2027 at the earliest.
No other public bus route to My Son appears in the route list on danangbus.vn, the city's bus website. For a taxi, private car or tour, this guide suggests comparing quotes from a few companies before you book. See Da Nang to Hoi An if you are staying in Da Nang and want to see Hoi An on the same trip.

What you will see
Expect ruins more than whole buildings. UNESCO listed My Son as a World Heritage Site on December 4, 1999. Cham kings of the Champa kingdom built more than 70 temples and towers in this valley between the 4th and 13th centuries, most of them dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.
Only about 20 of them still stand, mostly in groups B, C and D: the site lay abandoned for more than four centuries, and US bombing in 1969 brought down many towers, including the 24-meter (79-foot) tower A1.

Restoration is still under way. With funding from India, groups A, H and K were restored between 2017 and 2022. Work on groups E and F began in 2025 and is planned to finish in 2029, so parts of that area may be a work site when you visit.
Dress neatly and modestly, avoiding short or revealing clothes. Do not touch or climb the towers, do not write on or carve them, do not eat or drink inside the monument area, and do not use a flash for photos.
When to go
Go early in the morning, which the tourism portal recommends to avoid the midday sun in summer. It calls February to April the best time to visit and warns that from about September to January, heavy rain can make the paths slippery and flood the valley. Sources and how we checked
We checked every price, time and date on October 2, 2026. Prices, hours, shows and rules come from the My Son management board's website and ticket site, and location, distances and seasons from Da Nang's tourism portal and city websites. Bus details come from the Da Nang Smart Traffic Operations Center, and the price plan, visit length and restoration from dated Vietnamese news reports. We found no official price list for private transport or tours to My Son. Where sources disagree, on closing time, distances and the date of Echoes of My Son, we give both. US dollar amounts use Vietcombank's transfer rate of 25,800 VND per US$ on October 1, 2026, rounded to the nearest cent below US$1, US$0.5 up to US$100, US$1 up to US$10,000 and US$1,000 above that.
