Things to do in Da Nang: the main sights, with hours, prices and what has closed

Da Nang (Đà Nẵng) had more than 17.7 million visitors in 2025, and at least one major travel guide still recommends two places that closed in September 2025: the Sun Wheel at Asia Park, shut for a new project on the site, and the Helio Night Market, which closed for renovation and had reopened in a new form by March 2026. Before you pick things to do in Da Nang, check which sights are open, when, and what they cost.

The sections below cover the main things to do in and around the city, with hours, prices and rules from official sites and dated news reports, plus links to detailed guides for the longer trips.

The main things to do in Da Nang

If you have two or three days, build your plan around a short official list. Vietnam's national tourism site picks out Da Nang's beaches, the Son Tra peninsula, the Hai Van Pass, the Dragon Bridge, Ba Na Hills and the Marble Mountains. The table gives the hours and entry for each, plus two museums worth adding.

Hours for the beaches and Son Tra change with the season; the sections below give the hours for each season. On the Son Tra peninsula, automatic scooters are banned on the routes up to Ban Co peak, and visits can be stopped during dangerous weather warnings. For a day trip, Hoi An Ancient Town is about 30 km (19 miles) away and charges 20,000 VND (about US$0.78) per heritage site you enter.

The Dragon Bridge and an evening on the east bank

Be at the Han River by 9:00 pm on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, because that is when the Dragon Bridge breathes fire and then sprays water. The whole show usually lasts about 15 minutes, says the company that runs the bridge, and the city adds extra nights for some holidays. The bridge, 666 m long, opened to traffic on March 29, 2013. See the Dragon Bridge guide for the holiday dates and where to stand.

The Son Tra night market sits at the east end of the bridge, near the Love Bridge, and vendors told Tuoi Tre newspaper in 2025 that it is busiest on fire-show nights. The city's tourism portal gives its hours as 5:00 to 11:00 pm "for reference".

Leave Asia Park off your plan, because it closed in September 2025, and expect a different market at Helio. Asia Park, home of the Sun Wheel, stopped receiving visitors on September 3, 2025, to prepare for a new project on the site. Helio Night Market closed temporarily on September 5, 2025, for renovation, and visitors' reviews show it open again by early March 2026, under the names B. Night Market and B.Fair; see the Da Nang night market guide.

Beaches and the Son Tra peninsula

Plan your swims for lifeguard hours, which change with the season. On Da Nang's tourist beaches, lifeguards work 4:30 am–7:00 pm from March 15 to September 30 and 5:00 am–6:30 pm from October 1 to March 14, according to the schedule reported in May 2025. See beach season and lifeguard hours for when big waves usually come, and hospitals in Da Nang for where to go if someone gets hurt.

Safety note: Swim only in the areas marked by buoys where lifeguards are on duty.

On the Son Tra peninsula, Linh Ung pagoda at Bai But (chùa Linh Ứng Bãi Bụt) has a 67 m Goddess of Mercy statue on a lotus base 35 m across. The pagoda was completed on July 30, 2010, and the city's tourism portal listed entry as free in 2016. See the Son Tra Peninsula guide for the route rules and the places you cannot go.

Check the Son Tra rules before you ride up, because automatic scooters are banned on the routes to Ban Co peak. The forest routes are open 7:30 am–6:30 pm from March to September and 7:30 am–5:30 pm from October to February, and visits can be stopped during dangerous weather warnings. As of August 2026, the Tien Sa – Suoi Om – Ban Co route was temporarily closed for storm repairs. Mui Nghe, Ghenh Bang, Bai Da Den and military zones are off limits, and trekking, diving or coral viewing without a license is not allowed.

Museums and markets

Both museums open every day until 5:00 pm, so they fit easily into the hottest part of the day. The Museum of Cham Sculpture, at No. 2, 2 Tháng 9 Street (2 September Street), about 3 km (2 miles) from the airport, is open 7:00 am–5:00 pm every day, holidays included. Entry is 60,000 VND (about US$2.5). Vietnamese citizens with permanent residence in Da Nang and university, college and vocational students pay 20,000 VND (about US$0.78), and children under 16 and school pupils go free.

Building started in 1915 and the museum opened in 1919; it was renovated from May to November 2025. It holds 12 national treasures, including the Tra Kieu Apsara relief, named in 2024, and the Thap Mam dragon, named on December 31, 2024. An audio guide in Vietnamese, English and French runs on your phone through the museum's wifi at chamaudio.com; the museum does not state a price for it. The Museum of Cham Sculpture guide covers the free days and what to see.

The Da Nang Museum moved into the former town hall at 31 Tran Phu, Hai Chau ward, in March 2025. It is open 8:00 am–5:00 pm daily. Entry is 50,000 VND (about US$2), and the same groups as at the Cham museum pay 20,000 VND (about US$0.78) or go free.

For markets, the tourism portal gives 6:00 am–7:00 pm as reference hours for both Han Market, 119 Tran Phu, and Con Market, 290 Hung Vuong. Its June 2026 market guide calls these hours a reference, so allow for changes.

Day trips: Hai Van Pass, Ba Na Hills, Marble Mountains and Hoi An

Plan these trips first, because each one takes up a large part of a day. The Hai Van Pass, about 21 km (13 miles) long, climbs to Hai Van Gate at nearly 500 m. Since June 2, 2026, the gate has charged 70,000 VND (about US$2.5) per person, the same for Vietnamese and foreign visitors, collected by the Hue Monuments Conservation Center until the end of 2028. Motorbikes cannot use the Hai Van tunnel.

At Ba Na Hills, visitors from outside Da Nang pay 1,000,000 VND (about US$39) for an adult round-trip cable car ticket; Ba Na Hills tickets lists the other prices. The Marble Mountains charge 40,000 VND (about US$1.5) for Thuy Son, and Hoi An Ancient Town, part of Da Nang city since July 1, 2025, charges 20,000 VND (about US$0.78) per heritage site; see how to get from Da Nang to Hoi An for the bus, Grab and taxi options.

For a first visit, a Dragon Bridge evening, a beach morning, Son Tra and one long day trip make a full three days.

Sources and how we checked

We used Da Nang's tourism portal, the museums' own websites, the city and Hue authorities for fees, and dated Vietnamese news reports for closures and rules, checked on October 1–2, 2026, and the Helio Night Market's Google Maps listings and visitors' reviews for its reopening, read on October 3, 2026. Prices for Ba Na Hills, the Marble Mountains and Hoi An come from our detailed guides, where each source is listed. US dollar amounts use Vietcombank's transfer rate of 25,800 VND per US$ on October 1, 2026, rounded to the nearest cent below US$1, US$0.5 up to US$100, US$1 up to US$10,000 and US$1,000 above that.
