Best banh mi in Da Nang: 9 shops by area and time of day, with 2026 prices

Some visitors looking for the best banh mi in Da Nang (Đà Nẵng) want the roll locals line up for, with homemade pâté and pork sausage; others want a seat, air conditioning and an English menu near the beach. The two rarely point to the same shop.

Timing matters as much as the address, because three of the four city-center stalls below sell only in the morning or only from the afternoon. The nine shops are grouped by area, with the hours each one keeps.

Where to get banh mi in Da Nang

If you have one evening in the city center, plan around a shop that opens late in the day. This guide suggests Banh Mi Ba Lan (Bánh mì Bà Lan) on Trung Nu Vuong street as the first classic Da Nang banh mi to try: it is open 3:00–11:00 pm daily. Bao Da Nang, the city's newspaper, wrote about it in 2014 and 2018, and called Ba Lan and Ong Ty banh mi shops true to Da Nang and popular with locals.

None of the nine is in the MICHELIN Guide. As of June 2026, no banh mi shop in Vietnam had made any of the guide's lists through four editions, Tuoi Tre News reported, so treat any "Michelin-recommended banh mi" claim with care.

The table lists the shops in the order they appear below, by short name, with the street and opening hours.

None of the four city-center stalls sells straight through the day, so check the hours column before you set out.

A roll at the old-style shops costs about 20,000–35,000 VND (about US$1–1.5), going by Google reviews and GrabFood menus checked on October 20, 2026. At 2 Ladies Kitchen, a café-style shop in An Thuong, banh mi sandwiches cost 50,000–85,000 VND (about US$2–3.5) on its menu updated in August 2026, and Madam Khanh's website lists its mixed banh mi at 40,000 VND (about US$1.5). Prices on GrabFood can be higher than at the counter: Grandma Vuong's says its Grab prices are 20% higher.

Da Nang banh mi styles to know before you order

Knowing a few names helps when you order. Bao Da Nang wrote in 2018 that a Da Nang banh mi should always have pâté, mayonnaise, cold cuts, cinnamon pork sausage (chả quế), pork sausage, beef sausage, Thai basil, coriander and green chili. In Da Nang people often ask for "một ổ" (a loaf) or "một mì" when they order.

  • The bread: central Vietnam's loaf is dense inside, pointed at both ends and toasted crisp. Quoc Doanh (Quốc Doanh) bakery, at 35 Nguyen Chi Thanh street and open 6:00 am–10:00 pm, still baked the long, pointed, dense loaf in 2022, Tuoi Tre reported. Locals call it Quoc Doanh, "state-run," because it was once a state company. The paper traces it to a bakery an ethnic Chinese owner opened in the mid-20th century, later moved from Hung Vuong street to Nguyen Chi Thanh.
  • Banh mi chao (bánh mì chảo, pan banh mi): fried eggs, pâté, sausage or roast pork arrive in a small hot pan, with bread on the side for dipping.
  • Banh mi heo quay: roast pork with crackling. Banh Mi Heo Quay Ba Lanh below sells it only in the morning, while Banh Mi Co Thong sells a roast pork banh mi until late.
  • Banh mi bot loc (bánh mì bột lọc): bread filled with shrimp tapioca dumplings, often with pork sausage or char siu, sold mostly from carts after 3:00 pm. A 2022 article suggests looking in front of Han Market and on Phan Dinh Phung and Ong Ich Khiem streets; see the Han Market guide for the market itself.
  • Banh mi que (bánh mì que): a thin stick-shaped banh mi. Thanh Nien traces it to Hai Phong, and a 2024 essay in Bao Da Nang says that over more than twenty years it has become something you find everywhere in Da Nang.
  • Banh mi ga (bánh mì gà): the Da Nang chicken banh mi is usually filled with egg butter and chicken floss rather than pieces of chicken.

For other dishes to eat with or after your banh mi, see the guide to Da Nang street food.

Banh mi in the city center

Pick by the time of day you are free: Banh Mi Heo Quay Ba Lanh sells only in the morning, Banh Mi Ba Lan only from mid-afternoon, Banh Mi Co Thong until 2:30 am, and Banh Mi Ong Ty in two shifts. All four are west of the Han River (sông Hàn).

Banh Mi Ba Lan

Ba Lan is Nguyen Thi Lan, who in 2014 had sold banh mi for 30 years, the first 23 on Phan Chau Trinh street, Bao Da Nang reported. That year the shop sold only in the afternoon, so the mornings went to buying and preparing ingredients. The fillings were added in a set order: a thick layer of pâté first, then egg mayonnaise, cold cuts, cinnamon pork sausage, pork and beef sausage, Thai basil, coriander, green chili, a long piece of spring onion, and Sa Huynh salt with pepper.

Reviewers say it is take-away only, with no seating, and that it is busy; pâté is the filling its Google reviews mention most. It has 4.1 stars from 910 Google reviews. One reviewer paid 35,000 VND (about US$1.5) for the most expensive roll on the menu.

Check the house number before you buy. Bao Da Nang noted in 2014 that many banh mi cabinets around the city, especially on Phan Chau Trinh street, carried the Ba Lan name, while she owned only two shops, at 62 Trung Nu Vuong and 64 Trieu Nu Vuong. The shop at 64 Trieu Nu Vuong is listed on Google as run by Ba Lan's son and is open 3:00–10:00 pm.

Banh Mi Ong Ty

Ong Ty's real name is Ho Nganh, and in 2014 Bao Da Nang wrote that he had made sausage and sold banh mi for more than 40 years. The Ong Ty name goes back to his old banh mi cart at Con Market (chợ Cồn). The sausage is the whole point: the paper described rectangular slabs of 3–4 kg made without flour or borax, and a roll with no herbs, vegetables or pâté. Several reviewers also mention that it comes without vegetables or pickles.

You choose pork sausage, beef sausage or both, and some reviewers find the roll small or light on filling. The shop at 272 Hung Vuong street has 3.8 stars from 162 Google reviews. Two more shops under the same name, at 189 Trung Nu Vuong and 184 Quang Trung streets, keep the same hours.

Banh Mi Heo Quay Ba Lanh

Come before 10:00 am for this roast pork banh mi. In 2014 Bao Da Nang wrote about Nguyen Thi Lanh's roast pork banh mi on Phan Dinh Phung street, which sold more than 400 rolls between 6:00 and 9:00 am. She told the paper that roast pork is only crisp and fragrant in the morning.

The two Google listings carrying her name are at 78 and 78a Nguyen Chi Thanh street and share a phone number. The one at 78a, open 6:00–10:00 am, has 4.3 stars from 33 reviews, and two reviewers found the 78 location closed when its listing said it would be open. Reviewers describe a breakfast stop popular with locals. One paid 20,000 VND (about US$0.78) for a roll of roast pork with herbs, shredded green papaya, and salt and pepper.

Banh Mi Co Thong

Banh Mi Co Thong, on Dien Bien Phu street (Điện Biên Phủ), is a pan banh mi stall open 3:00 pm–2:30 am. Several reviewers describe the pan of fried eggs, pâté, meatballs and roast pork, eaten by dipping the bread, and Znews named the roast pork mixed egg pan its most popular dish in 2020. One reviewer says the staff speak little English, and another that the menu is only in Vietnamese. A third warns that a similar stall stands across the street, so check the Co Thong name before you sit down. On GrabFood, a roast pork banh mi costs 25,000 VND (about US$0.97) small and 30,000 VND (about US$1) large, and pans run from 25,000 VND (about US$0.97) for a fried egg to 60,000 VND (about US$2.5) for the special. Banh mi on the beach side: An Thuong and An Hai

Try these three if your hotel is on the beach side of the city: they are in Ngu Hanh Son and An Hai wards, east of the Han River, the side with My Khe Beach. Each has more Google reviews than any of the four city-center stalls, from 983 to 1,881. For hotel areas, see where to stay in Da Nang.

2 Ladies Kitchen

2 Ladies Kitchen, on An Thuong 4 street in Ngu Hanh Son ward, has around 30 banh mi, including fish and vegetarian ones, and says it makes each one after you order. On its menu updated in August 2026, grilled pork costs 65,000 VND (about US$2.5) and vegetarian banh mi start at 50,000 VND (about US$2). Many reviewers mention the free butterfly pea drink, and one likes the choice of air-conditioned seating inside or tables outside. Egg coffee is the topic its reviews mention most. Heo Nuong Lu Ong Phu Dat

The name means jar-roasted pork, and pork belly roasted in clay jars is what this shop on Nguyen Duy Hieu street in An Hai ward sells; crispy pork is among the topics its Google reviews mention most. It has other branches around the city, but this one has far more reviews than the other branches listed on Google Maps, with 4.7 stars from 1,047. You can also buy the roast pork on its own by weight, several reviewers note. Spice level is another topic in its reviews, so say how hot you want it. One reviewer puts a standard roll at 25,000 VND (about US$0.97), and another says extra meat costs 10,000 VND (about US$0.39) more. GrabFood lists a grilled pork baguette at 29,000 VND (about US$1) at its Trieu Nu Vuong branch.

Grandma Vuong's

Grandma Vuong's, on Chau Thi Vinh Te street in Ngu Hanh Son ward, makes Hanoi-style banh mi rather than the Da Nang kind; the shop's own post calls it "a little taste of Hanoi." Reviewers often mention banh mi with brie and the owners chatting with customers, and homemade pâté is among the topics in its reviews. On GrabFood the classic pâté banh mi costs 75,000 VND (about US$3), and the shop notes that its Grab prices are 20% higher than in the shop. It closes at 1:30 pm on Mondays. It has 4.9 stars from 983 Google reviews.

Hoi An banh mi: Madam Khanh and Banh Mi Phuong

If you spend a day in Hoi An's old town (part of Da Nang city since July 1, 2025), this guide suggests these two shops. VnExpress reported foreign visitors queueing at both in 2017. For the trip, see how to get from Da Nang to Hoi An.

Madam Khanh

Madam Khanh, on Tran Cao Van street about 1 km (0.6 miles) from Hoi An Market, was started by Nguyen Thi Loc and her husband, Khanh, whose name it carries. VnExpress gives 1975 as the year it opened, while the shop's website says more than 60 years. Tripadvisor dubbed it "The Banh Mi Queen," a name the shop uses on its sign. Its website lists the mixed "The Queen" banh mi at 40,000 VND (about US$1.5) and vegetarian ones at 30,000–35,000 VND (about US$1–1.5), and notes that the final price is the one on the board at the shop. Reviewers praise the crisp bread and say the queue moves fast, and there is seating inside, including upstairs. It has 4.6 stars from 12,137 Google reviews.

Banh Mi Phuong

Banh Mi Phuong, on Phan Chau Trinh street, is the shop Anthony Bourdain praised on his TV show No Reservations, Dan Tri reported. On September 11, 2023 it sold 1,920 banh mi. In all, 313 people got food poisoning after eating its banh mi on September 11 and 12, and Salmonella was found in samples of its pork and vegetables. On October 3, 2023, the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee (Hoi An was then part of Quang Nam province) fined it 96 million VND (about US$3,721) and suspended it for three months.

It reopened on January 3, 2024, after reorganizing its space, investing in machines, setting up a process for taking in ingredients and reviewing food safety, Tuoi Tre reported. Several reviewers say the queue moves quickly, and there is seating upstairs. One reviewer notes that you get a receipt with a number and wait for it to be called. It has 4.3 stars from 16,830 Google reviews.

Bao Da Nang wrote about Huy Phe's roast pork with salted egg sauce at 24–26 Le Hong Phong in December 2020; Google Maps marks the 24 Le Hong Phong listing permanently closed and shows no Huy Phe listing at 411 or 441 Ong Ich Khiem, the addresses Vietnam Airlines and other lists give. The cart at the Do Ba and Vo Nguyen Giap junction had foreign visitors queueing for up to 40 minutes in March 2026, VietNamNet reported, before ward officials cited it for occupying the sidewalk and it moved onto a nearby private plot. The statuses were checked on October 20, 2026.

Sources and how we checked

We chose shops that were open on Google Maps on October 20, 2026 and have a source beyond Google Maps: Vietnamese newspaper reports, the shop's own website or page, or its menu on GrabFood. For the city center we picked four that Bao Da Nang and other papers have written about, covering morning, evening and late night; for the beach side, the three with the most Google reviews among the shops that Google's search results in the United States suggested; for Hoi An, the two most covered by newspapers. Banh Mi & Coffee Nha Viet, which has many reviews, was left out because no source beyond Google Maps was found, and Banh Mi Cha TY, a late-night stall at 364 Ong Ich Khiem, because no source confirms it is the Ty cart Thanh Nien wrote about in 2020 at No. 362. We checked hours, addresses, ratings and phone numbers on each shop's Google Maps listing, and prices on the shops' websites and GrabFood, on October 20, 2026. We could read only the few reviews Google shows without signing in, so praise is reported only where at least two reviewers said the same thing, and a single reviewer is called "one reviewer." Newspaper quotes were checked against the original articles the same day. Photos: Madam Khanh (madamkhanh.vn), Heo Nuong Lu Ong Phu Dat and Grandma Vuong's (their Facebook pages), viewed October 20, 2026; cropped or lightly edited. Banh Mi Ba Lan, Banh Mi Ong Ty, Banh Mi Heo Quay Ba Lanh, Banh Mi Co Thong, 2 Ladies Kitchen and Banh Mi Phuong have no photo in this guide that met its standard. US dollar amounts use Vietcombank's transfer rate of 25,800 VND per US$ on October 1, 2026, rounded to the nearest cent below US$1, US$0.5 up to US$100, US$1 up to US$10,000 and US$1,000 above that.
