Da Nang airport arrival guide: terminals, taxis, Grab, buses and entry rules

Your flight lands at Da Nang airport (Da Nang International Airport, DAD) after dark, and your hotel is near the Dragon Bridge (Cầu Rồng) or on My Khe Beach (biển Mỹ Khê). The ride into town is short, but first you need to know where the taxis wait, where Grab drivers pick up at your terminal and whether a bus runs at that hour.

A few airport rules, such as who can enter the international terminal and what a driver pays to wait for you, are worth knowing before you land.

How to get from Da Nang airport to the city center

Once you have your bags, there are three main ways into town. At Da Nang airport, metered taxis wait outside arrivals around the clock; Grab estimates 10–15 minutes and 70,000–120,000 VND (about US$2.5–4.5) for a ride between the airport and the city center; and city bus route 12 costs 8,000 VND (about US$0.31) and runs 5:30 am–7:00 pm, by the airport's timetable.

The city's tourism portal puts the airport about 3 km (2 miles) from the city center. The table shows where each option picks you up and what it costs, as the airport's website lists them.

Bus 06Same as bus 1215,000 VND (about US$0.58) up to half the route; 22,000 VND (about US$0.85) beyond

For the city center, routes 12 and 06 stop around 7:00–7:30 pm by the airport's and the city's timetables, so after that the choice is a taxi or a ride-hailing car.

Route 06, opened on January 25, 2026 with electric buses, crosses the Dragon Bridge and runs along Vo Nguyen Giap and Truong Sa streets. The airport lists it from 5:30 am to 7:00 pm; the city's notice opening the route lists the first departure from the airport bus station, before the bus calls at the two terminals, at 5:45 am and the last at 7:25 pm. The airport estimates a 5–30 minute wait for buses, but the same notice gives a bus every 30–60 minutes on route 06. The airport adds that route 03 to Ba Na Hills (Bà Nà Hills) passes near the airport but does not stop there.

Which terminal: T1 domestic, T2 international

Check your terminal before you book a ride or tell a driver where to meet you. Terminal 1 handles domestic flights and is run by Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), which operates 22 of the country's 23 airports; Terminal 2 handles international flights and is run by AHT, which says it is the first private company in Vietnam to own and operate a whole airport terminal.

The two buildings are next to each other. The airport's directions: from T2, turn right after the arrivals hall and follow the covered path to T1 in about 5 minutes; from T1, turn left and walk 100 meters to T2. If you are connecting between an international and a domestic flight, you collect your bags and check in again, and the city's tourism portal advises allowing at least 2–3 hours.

The international terminal is busy: it handled 6,811,448 passengers in 2025, against a design capacity of 4 million a year, according to the city's tourism portal, and AHT is working on raising that capacity to 6 million. ACV plans to expand T1 to 14 million passengers a year, about 10 million domestic and 4 million international, with work planned to start in August 2027 and the extension planned to open in January 2029. The airport gives its address as Hoa Cuong ward (phường Hòa Cường); As of October 2026, Grab's airport page gives the address used before July 2025.

Taxis: where they wait and what to check

Have cash ready before you look for a taxi. The airport says only a few companies, such as Tien Sa and VinaSun, take Mastercard or Visa. Taxis run 24/7, and the airport says they pick up from the second car lane just outside arrivals, the same point for both terminals, where its staff help you book one. The companies on the airport's list are Mai Linh, Tien Sa, VinaSun, Hai Van, Datranco, Danang Taxi and Xanh SM.

An airport access fee of 10,000–30,000 VND (about US$0.5–1) may be added to the meter; some companies include it in the fare. The airport posts reference fares for set routes on its website and at pillar 02 in the public arrivals area, and for other routes its staff can tell you the fare. Xanh SM, one of the companies on the airport's list, publishes its Da Nang car rates: 30,500 VND (about US$1) for the first 2 km, then 15,300 VND (about US$0.59) per km up to km 12. Booked through the Xanh SM app, a ride between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am costs 20,000 VND (about US$0.78) more.

Watch the meter; this guide suggests paying the metered amount in dong, because of cases like this one. In January 2026, Dan Tri newspaper reported that a visitor said a VinaSun driver asked for 250,000 VND (about US$9.5) for a ride from the airport to a hotel on Tran Phu street when the meter showed 67,000 VND (about US$2.5). The company said it charged the metered fare and that the driver's hand signs meant US$2.5, which the visitor read as the higher figure.

Safety note: The airport tells passengers to use only taxis from authorized companies with proper branding, and not to accept rides from unauthorized people or unofficial taxis inside the airport.

Grab and Xanh SM pickup points

Book your car once you have your bags, and say in the app whether you are at T1 or T2. The airport says ride-hailing cars pick up in front of the arrivals hall at T1. At T2, it says to go straight out of arrivals and follow the signs to the ride-hailing pickup in front of the glass building in the parking area, and it asks passengers to check the car and driver against the app before getting in.

Grab adds a platform fee of 5,000–19,000 VND (about US$0.19–0.74) to car rides, passes on tolls and airport fees as they arise, and its payment partner Moca adds 4% when you pay with a foreign card. Grab says its prices can change with supply and demand, so the fare at a busy arrival time can be higher than its estimate.

Going straight to Hoi An

If you are heading straight to Hoi An, compare the taxi chart and the airport bus before you leave arrivals. The airport's reference fare chart, an image posted in January 2025, lists US$16.7 for a 5-seat taxi and US$17.9 for an 8-seat taxi to Hoi An town, including airport fees, and notes that fares vary by company and can change during holidays. The airport lists the Hai Van bus to Hoi An at the same bus pillars for 120,000 VND (about US$4.5), from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm; the city's bus website says it runs to the flight schedule. See the Da Nang to Hoi An guide for more options and fares.

Money, SIM cards, Wi-Fi and luggage

Sort out cash and a SIM card before you leave the building. The airport lists SIM counters in the baggage claim area of both terminals, open at any time, seven currency exchange locations in T2's public arrivals area on the ground floor and one more after security on the departures level, and exchange counters inside T1's arrivals area, before you exit. See SIM cards and eSIMs in Da Nang and currency exchange in Da Nang for prices and rates. The airport's guide also lists these services:

  • ATMs: BIDV, SeABank and HSBC in the public arrivals hall on the ground floor of T2, and VietinBank in the check-in hall at Entrance A on the second floor. T1 has ATMs in its public arrivals hall and check-in area.
  • Wi-Fi: free, on the network "#Wifi@DanangAirport".
  • Left luggage: in the glass building in the parking area; the hotline is +84 388 849 900.
  • Arrival lounge: the airport lists Orchid Lounge 3 in T2's baggage claim area, open 8:00 am to midnight, at US$5 per adult and US$3 per child aged 2–11 for 1 hour (free under 2, US$1 for each extra 15 minutes), with light refreshments and Wi-Fi; vouchers are sold at the entrance.
  • Visitor help: the Da Nang Visitor Support Center has a desk in both terminals, and the airport says the desks hand out free city maps.

Passport, visa and immigration on arrival

Check your visa status before you fly. As of June 2026, the automatic immigration gates at T2 are open only to Vietnamese citizens, so foreign visitors go through the staffed counters.

Under Vietnam's unilateral visa exemption, citizens of 24 countries can enter without a visa for up to 45 days from the day they arrive, as long as they meet Vietnam's other entry conditions. Resolution 44/NQ-CP, in force from March 15, 2025 to March 14, 2028, covers any purpose of travel for citizens of the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland. Resolution 229/NQ-CP, in force from August 15, 2025 to August 14, 2028, covers tourist visits only, for citizens of Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland. The US, Australia, Canada and New Zealand are not on either list.

Citizens of any country can apply online, before travel, for an e-visa of up to 90 days with single or multiple entry, and Da Nang airport is one of the e-visa entry points. The UK government notes that an e-visa limits you to the entry and exit points you choose when you apply. Under the fee table in force from April 1, 2026, a single-entry visa costs US$25 and a multiple-entry visa valid up to 90 days costs US$50.

Passport rules vary by source. The airport asks for a passport valid at least 6 months beyond your planned stay and at least one blank visa page; the city's tourism portal says 6 months from the expected date of entry; the UK government says 6 months after the date you arrive and at least two blank pages. Meeting the strictest of these, 6 months beyond your stay and two blank pages, covers all three.

Leaving from Da Nang airport

Give yourself time on the way out. The tourism portal advises arriving at least 2 hours before a domestic flight and 3 hours before an international one. The airport says check-in at T2 usually opens 3 hours before departure and closes 60 minutes before; the tourism portal gives 50–60 minutes. At T1, the airport says check-in typically starts 2 hours before and ends 40 minutes before. For international flights from T2, the airport says liquids in hand luggage must be in containers of 100 ml or less, up to 1 litre in total, in a clear resealable bag. It says exemptions can be made for baby food when an infant is traveling with you, and for medicine and special dietary items with an original letter from a certified medical practitioner, though these may get extra checks at security.

If someone is seeing you off or picking you up by car, the airport lists no free period: cars with fewer than 9 seats pay 10,000 VND (about US$0.39) for the first 10 minutes and 5,000 VND (about US$0.19) for each 30 minutes after that, and it says the toll booths on Nguyen Van Linh and Duy Tan streets take only cash. The airport says it has limited entry to T2 for people who are not flying since December 1, 2023, and it directs drop-off cars to Entrance A or B for T2 and D1–D3 for T1.

Sources and how we checked

We checked every fare, time and rule on October 3, 2026, mostly against the airport's own website and Danang Fantasticity, the city's tourism portal; Grab and Xanh SM fares come from the companies' pages, bus routes from the airport and the city's bus website, visa rules from government resolutions and the UK government's travel advice, and expansion plans from ACV. The airport's pages carry no update dates. Where sources disagree, on bus times, bus waits, check-in closing times and passport rules, we give each. US dollar amounts use Vietcombank's transfer rate of 25,800 VND per US$ on October 1, 2026, rounded to the nearest cent below US$1, US$0.5 up to US$100, US$1 up to US$10,000 and US$1,000 above that.
